ALEXANDRA CANAL MASTER PLAN

Alexandria, Sydney
Special Commendation in two-stage Competition
In association with Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture & Hill Thallis architecture + urban projects

1999
The Alexandra Canal was built in the late 19th and early 20th centuries as a major engineering project to drain wetlands, give access to new industrial lands and provide employment. The master plan competition sought ideas for revitalising the area; remediating the polluted canal system and reviving the surrounding area through new development, landscape and public art.
