ROUSE HILL MUSEUM EDUCATION FACILITY

Rouse Hill, Sydney, NSW
In association with the Historic Houses Trust and Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture

2006 -
The New Education Facilities are centred on the historic former Rouse Hill Public School.  The principal components are the Entrance Building, existing School House, and a Covered Outdoor Learning Area (COLA) / Classroom.

The entrance building includes reception, administration / home base, bag storage and covered amphitheatre, as well as toilets, storage and associated facilities.  The building has a low profile, fitting within the site contours to retain views from the new Windsor Road to the old school and Rouse Hill House.  The building has long sheltering walls that protect the courtyard and amphitheatre from road noise. The COLA / Classroom is a multi-use space, able to be opened up or enclosed to suit teaching requirements and weather conditions.  It includes ample storage and kitchenette facilities. Like the entrance building, it also has a low profile and long sheltering walls to give relief from road noise.
