TWEED RIVER REGIONAL MUSEUM - 1

Kennedy Drive, Tweed Heads, NSW
Winner of two-stage Design Competition

2006 –
The competition project was sited on the backwaters of the Tweed River estuary where flooding constraints required the building to be raised five metres above the ground. The winning scheme has an elevated linear form extending out over the water, with an embedded hardwood-clad oval form containing stairs, lift and mechanical equipment.

A café, suspended over the water, opens onto a timber jetty.
